Teaching English in Venezuela

In my personal contact with education-related blogs, I continue to review and ruminate about articles related to teaching English to children. As I mentioned in my previous entry, my English courses are usually for students at least 11 years old. I consider my approach to English to be integral; I am interested in helping each student to listen, speak, read, and write with a good understanding of the English used. You might not see a lot of evidence of my reading in this blog entry. Sometimes the authors prefer to send me directly their blog entries.
I continue to read blog-related articles on education, changes in the English language, and difficulties in other languages like Russian and Arabic. Years ago I ran into a little bit of the type of Arabic difficulties mentioned. I got some Arabic materials to share with a friend only to find out that it was not his type of Arabic. He could not understand the materials, but he appreciated my effort. I always run into English-language difficulties as I teach English to my students. I discover difficulties in my mother language about which I have not thought before (or would it be better to say "...which I have not thought about before"). Not only do my students have opportunities to learn with me. I learn with them.
Theoretically I can teach English to students on five levels: basic, intermediate, advanced, very advanced, and supreme (name given by student). Most of my students study Basic English, a few are in or heading to Intermediate English. I have one Advanced English student for at least a couple more months.

What kinds of things are you reading? What are you experiencing (or have you experienced) in the classroom? On what levels are you teaching or learning English?
